Now you have got though all the hurdles of mating your bitch the next step is pregnancy scanning. I love this part of our services more than anything else we offer. For years now I employed the services of people offering this service. I’ve used excellent people and people that have fallen short of expectations. Vets don’t seem to be cost effective or are able to provide the time and pictures wanted. Even our vets will say it’s not something they promote. I’ve seen so many scans that I decided I’d like to have the equipment for our own use.

I did the course, practiced and bought the most up to date equipment so I can give a quality service and leave customers with pictures. Very exciting when it is good news. I can even pick up if not good news a potential problem and recommend a trip to the vets which can save the life of a bitch.
I’m not a vet so I won’t diagnose. As far as giving numbers goes this is always an area of controversy, we can say a bitch is in whelp, but exact numbers are always difficult, so guesswork is essentially what we do.
Of course, nobody wants to hear that they are only having one puppy but in my experience, I’d rather know if that’s what I can see as often in some breeds leads to a caesarean section. I have had it happen and the scan was done and later too and I was told 3 puppies by a vet. I nearly lost my bitch and lost the puppy. I’ve had scans where I’ve been told it will be a litter of 7/8 and had 4, then concerned that she hadn’t had them all. So, we say what we see and hopefully get it nearly right. Puppy’s aren’t viable until they are here safe and well and out of the first couple weeks so if I say 4 and you get 5 then that’s wonderful news!!!! Once your puppies are 7 weeks, we can then microchip them for you. We have a choice of microchips and databases, but we discuss this with you prior to the appointment. This is a legal requirement.
What do we offer?
- Assisted mating’s – difficult bitches, maiden dogs, inexperienced.
- Artificial Insemination – all equipment used is in sterile packaging.
- Ultrasound Scanning – pregnancy scanning recommended from day 28 to 35.
- Progesterone Testing - We recommend a particular vet for your progesterone testing and we know they are good and a reasonable price. Although I can do this at this stage a partnership with a chosen provider suited us.
Additional to the above we offer a consultation process for the new licensing scheme. We hold processes and procedure documents and are able to guide you through the requirements of most of the councils. We have already helped people gain high star ratings and navigate them though the process.
